One
Stop Centers offer customer friendly service for all employment
related needs including job banks, career centers and opportunities
for skills training. The One Stop Centers are centrally
located within the Danbury,
Torrington and Waterbury
areas.
The
One Stop is the place to take care of every aspect of employment.
Part of the Department of Labor, the One Stop helps people
get ready to get back in the workforce. They can help people
get training to get job skills. Then, they assist in writing
a resume and practicing for interviews. Finally, they can
arrange for transportation to the job site, for the interview
and for your regular commute.
It
starts with the Northwest Regional WorkForce Investment
Board. Connected to community colleges, the board helps
people interested in training in careers like transportation
and nursing get the job skills they need to get the job
they want. People look through a choice book, choosing from
the many selections. They can choose to go back to school
or get more specific job training.
After
getting the job skills, the One Stop provides a Career Center
- a place to get ready for getting a job and career going.
At the Career Center, people can sign up resume writing
and interviewing classes. You can also take advantage of
free easy-to-use computers to look for jobs, free postage
to send out resumes, and free phones to follow-up to get
that job.
After
sending out resumes, the next step is the job interview.
JobLinks provides the transportation to get you to and from
an interview. And when you get the job, JobLinks provides
regular transportation.
The
One Stop is the place to help you get from no job to regular
work, providing assistance for you every step of the way.
For
more information on the resources available at the One Stops,
please refer to the Connecticut
Department of Labor.
| These
are the Career Center workstations. Use the computers
to look for work, then send resumes through fax and
email. Then place the follow-up call. |
