Work Readiness Credential

The Work Readiness Credential (WRC) was developed to assist businesses in creating more efficient employees. It is a program that takes little time to complete but offers enormous rewards.

Developed by the National Work Readiness Council, the credential training focuses on eight skills that individuals need to master whether preparing to enter the job force or remain viable to existing employers. The WRC makes the jobseeker more marketable and current employees more valuable by preparing them for future endeavors.

The program is two and a half hours in length. It covers four areas, such as problem solving and co-worker relations, and narrows each broader module into specific skill concentration.

Green Job Training

Training programs are available through The New York State Energy and Research Authority (NYSERDA) for those interested in a careers focusing on environmental preservation. The state government has made a multi-million dollar investment in finding alternative power sources, promoting energy conservation, and developing innovative, eco-friendly solutions while stimulating the economy. This smart growth platform includes partnering with businesses to provide incentives to educate workers on new methodologies that reduce negative impact on the planet.

Several training and certification programs are available through a statewide network of training providers. These initiatives offer classroom and hands-on instruction in numerous vocations encompassing clean air objectives. Air quality control and energy source renewal are just a few of the course topics designed for entry-level environmental preservation employees or existing personnel needing advanced education greener modes of operation.

Building Operation Certification (BOC) is offered to individuals with several years of building maintenance experience. This is a nationally recognized certification that can open doors and advance careers.

A person with a BOC is an expert in the latest conservation techniques that encompass environmental operations of a facility. From efficient lighting installation to in-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, a BOC assures employers that an individual is well-versed in maintaining energy-efficient best practices.

NYSERDA pays a share of the cost of many of the New York's energy training programs and certification exam fees upon successful completion from an accredited provider.

NYSERDA also offers courses in energy efficient techniques and renewable energy sources to individuals at any skill level. The Energy Efficient Training program is hands-on instruction in how to build, install and maintain structural operations that save energy resources as well as money. The Renewable Training program reviews new technologies used in building structures and replacing power systems using renewable sources like solar and wind power.
